MINDS (Management In Networked and Digital Societies) Department at Kozminski University, a leading research-driven, non-public and non-profit business school in the heart of Europe (EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA accredited, consistently well recognized in the Financial Times business schools rankings), is seeking to fill four open rank positions.

The four vacancies we are seeking to fill are in the fields of:

– Big Data and AI in Management,

– Business IT,

– Data Science and Digital Sociology,

– HR and Cross-Cultural Management (with data science research experience).


The candidates should specify if they are applying for a position of:

– research and teaching assistant (asystent),

– assistant professor (adiunkt),

– associate professor (profesor nadzwyczajny), or

– full professor (profesor zwyczajny).


About you:

A successful candidate should have a strong academic record matching the position they are applying for. In the case of an associate and full professor ranks, a strong publication record in the JCR-listed journals and the leading academic publishers, as well as proven successful grant applications track are expected.

Fluency in Polish is not a requirement, but in the long run can be useful. If you do not speak Polish, we would certainly hope that you will be willing to learn it. Other things we value and may prioritize include:

– extended experience from abroad,

– experience in teaching,

– combined educational background from different fields,

– strong academic orientation,

– good presentation and teaching skills,

– documented academic interests related to computational social sciences,

– fluency in programming languages and/or data scraping and mining tools,

– fluency in data analysis and modeling software.


We do not restrict the background of candidates to a particular field, as we believe that good research can be inspired and developed from different angles. However, we understand that the position may appeal particularly to people doing research in management, management science, data science, digital sociology, econometrics, computer science, information science, or digital humanities.

For these positions, we are seeking people apt in quantitative and big data approaches, although we are not excluding candidates with a strong qualitative background.

Specific requirements:

  1. For the position in Big Data and AI in Management:

Fluency in more than one programming language, good command of the Big Data architecture and cloud computing, an ability to model data structure, no-SQL and SQL data analysis.

Courses to teach: Python, Big Data and algorithms, Machine learning.


  1. For the position in Business IT:

IT projects management experience, command of the Big Data architecture and cloud computing, good command of business IT problems, a good understanding of the open-source business environment.

Courses to teach: Business IT, Network society, Management in e-economy, Open collaboration, AI in business, Open-source management


  1. For the position in Data Science and Digital Sociology:

Good command of model data structuring, experience in social network analysis. Additionally desirable: an ability to write own bots and scrapers, good command of open source solutions, financial data mining experience.

Courses to teach: Data processing in the cloud, Methods of data visualization and reporting, using MO and Tableau, Financial data mining, Internet data scraping, Social Network Analysis.

This position is going to be filled in collaboration with the Finance Department and some interest in the topics related to financial analysis may be of additional value.


  1. For the position in HR and Cross-Cultural Management (with a desired data science research experience):

Good command of cross-cultural issues and organizational culture. Experience in data science or in digital sociology desirable.

Courses to teach: industrial relations and HR Management, Introduction to International Management, Cross-Cultural Management.


About the department:

MINDS Department is a highly informal, relatively young team of researchers. We follow participative decision-making principles and, if invited for an interview, you can expect being interviewed and evaluated by all members of the team, irrespective of the rank you are applying for.

We put great emphasis on internationalization and high academic standards. Over the last five years, MINDS Department faculty have gone on one-year research stays to Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cornell University, University of California Berkeley, or New York University, among others. We regularly publish in JCR-listed journals and publish books in the leading academic presses (e.g. Stanford University Press, MIT Press, Palgrave, Edward Elgar, Ashgate, Routledge).

Some of us are social movements activists (and e.g. serve on the Board of Trustees of Wikimedia Foundation or are engaged in the city movements), some are involved in the start-up culture (mentoring, seed funds, developing own businesses, etc.), and we generally value bringing a diverse experience to the table.

We believe that research should be stellar solid and of high quality, but that it also should be fun. We offer flexibility, a lot of independence, and a friendly working culture.

MINDS Department is closely linked with NeRDS (New Research on Digital Societies) group, which participates in the international Network of Centers.


About the university:
